Reverend Dr. Vanetta L. Brice
Pastor, First AME Church of Gaithersburg
Reverend Brice, a native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, is married to Kenneth Brice. Together, they have two sons (one deceased), three daughters (one deceased) and sixteen grandchildren. Prior to her appointment to First AME Church Gaithersburg, she served as the pastor of St. John A.M.E. church in Hughesville, Maryland. She received her Doctor of Ministry in May of 2011 and the Master of Divinity in May of 2002 from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology.

She currently serves as the treasurer for the Second Episcopal District and the Washington Conference. She previously served as the Washington Conference Coordinator for Women In Ministry and as the statistician for the Washington Conference. Her professional membership includes being a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Her past affiliations include serving as the treasurer for the Christian Service Charities and the Council of Churches of the Greater Washington Area and as a board member for the Richard Allen Community Development Corporation.

Her favorite scripture is written in the book of Isaiah. “But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NRSV)
