The Assistant Pastor Reverend Marvin T. Glenn, Jr.

Reverend Marvin T. Glenn, Jr.Born in Xenia, OH, Rev. Glenn is the second child of Marvin Sr. and Maekaela Glenn. He was educated in the public schools of Xenia and Yellow Springs, OH. He attended Central State University as well as various other executive management training programs and The Maple Springs Bible College Seminary. Additionally, he attended continuing education courses at Howard University School of Divinity.

For many years, Rev. Glenn was employed in the retail industry. He was the first African American to work for the Rike-Kumler Department Stores in Dayton, OH. While at Rike's, he became the first African American to be accepted in the Executive Training Program. Later, he was a trailblazer at several other retail chains. Rev. Glenn has worked with the homeless of Prince George's County, and was a Rehabilitation Coordinator, assisting the mentally and emotionally challenged boys and girls and families at Urban Behavior Associates (UBA) and Family Centers. In 2004, Rev. Marvin resigned from his position as a case manager/family support specialist with Catholic Charities to devote more of his time to ministry.

His Ministry

Rev. Glenn accepted Christ at an early age. Prior to accepting the call to preach, he was active in the church as a layman. He used his skills to set up the Fun and Fads Shop at Shiloh Baptist Church Family Life Center in Washington, DC, where he also served in numerous capacities. Later, Rev. Glenn joined Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Ft. Washington, MD, where he served in various ministries, including the Trustee Board. It was while attending Ebenezer that Rev. Glenn acknowledged the call of God upon his life. His many skills and talents were used to help initiate the Family Ministry and the Comfort Ministry. Additionally, he taught Baptismal Counseling classes and initiated a ministry to families of military personnel stationed in the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm. Rev. Glenn has conducted workshops for men as well as for married couples.

His beginning at First A.M.E

Rev. Glenn currently serves as Assistant Pastor at First A.M.E. Church, Gaithersburg. He has been married to Rev. Dr. Barbara Y. Glenn, Pastor of First A.M.E. Church, Gaithersburg, for more than 40 years. They have two children: Lisa Glenn Ruffin and Marvin, III. They are blessed to have five grandchildren: Jasmine and Jason Ruffin and Myles, Parris, and Ezekiel Glenn.
